What is an Apostille stamp?
An Apostille or “Hague Convention” is a form of authentication or certification issued to public documents, Once an Apostille has been affixed to your document, it will be valid, recognised and accepted in foreign countries that are parties to the Hague Convention. The Apostille simplifies the process of validating official documents for international use.
What is the hauge convention?
The hauge Convention, established in The Hague, Netherlands, on October 5, 1961, created a standardized procedure for validating public documents across member countries. The purpose of the Apostille is to eliminate the need for complex and time-consuming authentication processes when using documents in foreign countries.
When a document bears an Apostille, it signifies that the document is authentic and has been verified by the issuing country’s government. This includes confirming the authenticity of the signature on the document, the capacity in which the person signing the document acted, and the seal or stamp on the document.
Common types of documents that may receive an Apostille include birth certificates, marriage certificates, adoption papers, court orders, notarized documents, academic diplomas, and other official records issued by public authorities.
It’s important to note that the Apostille is valid only among countries that are parties to the Apostille Convention. If a document needs to be used in a country that is not part of the convention, additional authentication or legalization may be required through that country’s embassy or consulate. Once an Apostille has been affixed to your document, it will be valid, recognized and accepted in foreign countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention.
